A look inside the home of …

Miljuschka Witzenhauzen

We know Miljuschka Witzenhausen as a presenter, TV chef, mother, powerhouse woman and cheesecake lover, Miljuschka is a true bundle of energy. A few years ago, she bought a fantastic farmhouse and after months of renovating, it was finally time to decorate it. Rivièra Maison and Miljuschka have been working together for several years, so when furnishing her home, she happily chose Rivièra Maison furniture once again. The final result is stunning, which is why we’re so excited to take you inside this cosy home.

Miljuschka’s Dream Farmhouse

DID YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH THE HOUSE IMMEDIATELY?
“Well, we viewed 44 houses before we saw this one. Even though it was above budget, we went to take a look out of sheer desperation. And the moment I stepped into the living room, with all those beams and the high ceilings, it was simply love at first sight.” It was a long process to renovate everything into her ultimate dream home, with quite a few setbacks along the way.
“We completely stripped the house and rebuilt everything from scratch. My current kitchen used to be an old stable with the roof boarded up with wood. When we started working on it, we discovered that all the pipes were in bad shape too, so they all had to be replaced. It took ten long months! My favourite spots in the house are by the fireplace in the living room, but I’m also completely in love with the bedroom. And I’m truly over the moon with my kitchen!”

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE RIVIÈRA MAISON?
“I really grew up with Rivièra Maison. My aunts and grandmother had so many pieces from the brand. To me, it was the first Dutch interior brand that truly radiated class. Besides that, Rivièra Maison also offers lots of kitchenware, and of course that fits perfectly with my lifestyle.” The comfortable Residenza modular sofa takes centre stage in the living room. “That sofa is so wonderfully fluffy! I love a slightly more modern style, and I think Rivièra Maison adapts beautifully to today’s different interior trends.”

WHAT DOES YOUR IDEAL DAY LOOK LIKE?
“Sleeping in, definitely! Then having breakfast with the whole family and spending the day slowly cooking. Making delicious stews and pies and being busy with them all day long. In between, we play games together with the children. I’m lucky enough to live on a farm now, which means I can use so many fresh products from the land. From pears and apples to plums, eggs and even nuts., there’s always something delicious to bake with. I absolutely love the baking process. It feels like magic: you put a few ingredients into a bowl and the oven, and a completely different product comes out. It amazes me every single time!”

YOU NOW HAVE A STUDIO AT HOME. HOW DO YOU SEPARATE WORK AND PRIVATE LIFE?
“That’s honestly one of the biggest struggles in my life. I am my business, so my face is connected to everything. That’s why it’s wonderful that I can do so much from home, because it keeps that feeling of warmth and homeliness that food brings. But it can also be challenging sometimes. Luckily, the house is so spacious that the children aren’t bothered by it. They have plenty of room in the front part of the house and we even had a treehouse built especially for them. That way they always have a place to retreat and do their own thing.”

WHAT IS THE ULTIMATE FEELING OF HOME FOR YOU?
“Being together around the table with the whole family. My children are at such a fun age now, they say the funniest things, so dinner time is always incredibly cosy. It’s also one of the few moments when the phones are put away and we truly enjoy each other’s company and unwind together.”
