A look inside the home of …
Cathy Hummels
Cathy Hummels, German presenter, entrepreneur and influencer, purchased a charming home of her own in Schwabingen after her divorce. To support Cathy during this important new chapter, she collaborated with Nico Tijsen on the design of the living and dining room. Their goal was to create a cosy oasis where Cathy and her son Ludwig could truly feel at home. The beautiful Dazzle sofa forms the centrepiece of the living room, while a three-dimensional palm tree rug and matching wallpaper harmoniously connect the elements and give the room a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Cathy about her new interior
DEAR CATHY, HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR HOME?
“I live very cosily, very stylishly, but also very Cathy-like! I love clean lines, but also colourful accents. I love wallpaper and rugs. As you can already see here, I have a great love for details.”
WHAT DOES YOUR NEW HOME MEAN TO YOU?
“My new home means safety to me, a place where I can retreat and, above all, relax and know that I am home here, that these are my four walls and that they protect me.”
WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU IN YOUR NEW HOME?
“In my new home, the most important thing for me is that everything fits together, that it feels cohesive, but also that everything feels completely Cathy, so that people walk in here and immediately see my personality. This home reflects who I am, and that is very important to me. I don’t want it to feel interchangeable, I want it to feel like mine, and now it truly does.”
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE RIVIÈRA MAISON?
“What I love about Rivièra Maison is that we share a love for detail and believe it is important that the complete picture feels coherent. At the same time, my own personality is visible here as well. We worked together in a way that feels both Rivièra Maison and Cathy. It is simply beautiful, it was such a lovely experience, and everything you see here truly feels like home to me.”
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF THE INTERIOR?
“My favourite part is actually my curved sofa in the beautiful fabric, because I think round shapes are more beautiful than square ones. Even when I draw, I never draw squares, only hearts. I already receive so many questions about this sofa because it is truly unique. I have never seen this sofa anywhere else, which makes me incredibly proud of it.”
WHAT DOES YOUR SON LUDWIG THINK OF THE NEW INTERIOR?
“To be honest, Ludwig absolutely loves it too! We both adore the curved sofa, which has actually become a little problem, because I love lying in the curved corner and Ludwig does too. The other day he was lying behind me and almost pushed me off the sofa! I said, ‘Ludwig, this is my house,’ and he replied, ‘No mum, this is our house, it’s my house too!’ So yes, we definitely have a little sofa issue here, haha. Maybe one day I’ll have to get another curved sofa for Ludwig’s room.”
